Advanced Monologue/Audition Class at the Southampton Cultural Center

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Southampton, New York - Michael Disher will teach an advanced monologue/audition class this winter at Southampton Cultural Center. Presented each Wednesday evening, February 13 through March 5, from 7:00 PM until 10:00 PM. Mr. Disher will guide a select group of 16 actors with professional aspirations and intentions through a specific and detailed exploration of selection, interpretation, characterization, presentation and delivery required of successful monologues for auditions and broadening of character range and variance.

"This 12 hour workshop has been created to allow local actors the continued opportunity of working on established works in a purposeful and useful setting," Disher stated. "Unlike November's scene study class, I feel many actors, need and want personal coaching on monologues for auditions, understanding character development and the points of presentation required at all auditions." The cost of the 4 session, 12 hour workshop is $100.00.

This class, due to its content and nature, is available to actors 18 - 60 years of age. Those interested should contact Ms. Lonnie at the Southampton Cultural Center and request a brief informational form. The form should then be returned with each actor's resume and headshot, if available. Applications should be returned promptly as spaces in this class are extremely limited. The deadline for completed applications is February 7, 2008.

A similar class for college bound theatre and acting students, age 17-18, will also be offered

Ms. Kirsten Lonnie, executive director of SCC and Mr. Disher have joined forces in the hopes that theatrical opportunities can, once again, be available to our local actors and our communities.
