The Southampton Cultural Center is proud to announce the 2010 winners of the Student Artist Invitational, Long Island’s premier juried high school art show.
These High School juniors and seniors are among the most focused and talented young artists in Suffolk County. The show is open to all high schools in the 119xx zip codes.
These schools participated: Westhampton Beach, Ross, McGann-Mercy, Riverhead, Southampton, Center Moriches, Mattituck and East Hampton.
Over 100 pieces were entered, from which 56 were selected to hang in the exhibit at the Levitas Center For the Arts on January 9th, 2010.
A public reception and awards ceremony will be at 4:30 on January 9th.
The esteemed judges this year are established gallery owners and professional working artists.
They included Karen Boltax of Boltax Gallery in Shelter Island, Laura Grenning of Grenning Gallery in Sag Harbor, James Daga Albinson, artist and Marilyn Stevenson, photographer. Every judge complained, “It’s too hard to pick! The works are of a very high quality”. Show information at: www.southamptonculturalcenter.org

The Student Artist Invitational has evolved over the last decade, and is now going to make a leap to a new level. The goal is to give students a true premier invitational experience, stellar opportunity for their college application process, authentic professional artist experience. And, one little plus for the teachers: fewer works of art to be carted to and fro!
We intend to make this known to college admission recruiters, collaborating to lift the prestige of the show, the students and all participants to new, higher levels in fine art.
This will be a true Invitational. Students will submit work in advance for jury review by renowned artists-not all will be accepted.
