DEBORAH BLACK,PRISCILLA BOWDEN,GAIL KERN,MARGERY GOSNELL-QUA Gallery Hours: Opening Reception: The focus of the exhibition is "light" and it's seasonal effect on the East End Landscape, specifically Autumn, and how this is given visual expression by four artists of the region. While the artists may begin with on-sight sketches, none is a definitive plein aire painter. Each artist refers to color, light, and essential form, with the combined dynamic of observed nature and imagination, giving rise to an individual, personal artistic statement. For Priscilla Bowden, a graduate of the Art Students League of New York, inspiration began while living in the south of France, whose light is often compared with that of the East End of Long Island, and for over 40 years her paintings have paid homage to the American landscape.
