Calvin Albert lived on the East End for many years. He served as professor of art at Pratt Institute in NYC and is the author of FIGURE DRAWING COMES TO LIFE. His drawings and sculpture are represented in numerous public collections including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Jewish Museum, the Heckscher Museum, and the Museum of Modern Art, NYC.

The artists large charcoal drawings and sculpture take inspiration from the human form, architecture, and landscape. The works are abstract, revealing only essential elements of each motif. The sculpture, in bronze, pewter, and various alloys often combines figuration with architectonic form.

On Sunday, April 18 at 3:00pm, members of the Stony Brook Baroque Players and the acclaimed harpsichord studio of Arthur Haas from Stony Brook University will give a concert of vocal and instrumental music spanning the Baroque age from catchy dance music of the early 17th century through to the masterpieces of the High Baroque of the early 18th century. Featured in this concert will be works of Georg Phillip Telemann, J.S. Bach, François Couperin, Henry Purcell, and others. You will be thrilled by the virtuousity and sensuousness of this music and these fine young players. Plan on attending this early music spectacular!
