Advanced Monologue/Scene Study Class Focusing On Tennessee Williams with Michael Disher

Michael Disher will teach an advanced monologue/scene study class this fall at Southampton Cultural Center focusing on the works of Tennessee Williams.

Presented each Tuesday evening, October 18 through November 15, from 6:30 PM until 9:30 PM.

Mr. Disher will guide a select group of 16 actors through a specific and detailed exploration of understanding, presenting and delivering the poetry and mislaid passions of one of America’s finest playwrights. Monologues and scenes will be studied.
"This 12 hour workshop has been created to allow local actors the opportunity of working on Williams’ iconic works in a purposeful and useful setting," Disher stated. "Many actors will at some point audition for a Williams’ play. Understanding character development and the visceral world of Williams’ characters and crises requires great scrutiny. A subtextual understanding and appreciation for Williams’ poetic prose will be included.”

The Vocal and Physical Monologue Class with Michael Disher

Michael Disher will teach “The Vocal and Physical Monologue” class this fall at Southampton Cultural Center.

Presented each Monday evening, October 17 through November 14, from 6:30 PM until 9:30 PM.

Mr. Disher will guide a select group of 16 actors through an arduous exploration of understanding personal vocal skill and physicality. Monologues will be studied.
"This 12 hour workshop has been created to help student actors and adults understand their range and limitations in their voices and physical attributes. Too often, actors underestimate their abilities. This workshop will allow, through monologue study, the advantage of learning more about their personal contribution to their presentation of prepared works. This class is essential to high school students who plan on auditioning for colleges and theatre programs,” Disher stated.

New Workshop: Realist Oil Painting with Robert Mehling

An introduction to realist (non-abstract) oil painting. We will explore both traditional (classical realist) and non-traditional (photo-realist) approaches. You will produce 2 paintings: one a traditional still-life painted from observation, the second will be any subject painted from a photograph of your choice. In the first you will draw the still-life objects I will provide, trace the drawing onto canvas, create an under-painting, and apply layers of corrective over-painting. In the second painting you will follow the same method, but instead of drawing you will trace a blow-up of your photo onto canvas and use your photo as model.. Contact instructor for materials list before class. Studio: (631) 208-1370, Email: ramehshu@earthlink.net - Website: http://www.robertmehling.com

Wednesdays, October 12 - December 14, 2011, 6:30 - 9:30 PM
$ 300 for the 10 sessions
Class limited to 12 students.
